How to add captions to a video
Open your video
Paste a link from RedGifs, xHamster, XVideos or XNXX, or choose a video on your device. Your own videos never leave your device.
Write your caption
Type up to three captions and pick where they sit, how big they are and their style. The preview shows exactly what you’ll get.
Time it (optional)
Captions show for the whole video, or set when each one appears and disappears.
Save it
Press Create MP4, check the result and download it, sound included.
Caption styles
- White, outlined

- Snap-style bar
- White text on a see-through black bar across the video.
- Dark on white band
- Dark text on a white band, like a subtitle card.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No signup and no limit on how many videos you caption.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Videos you choose from your device are never uploaded anywhere, and linked videos stream straight from the site they’re on to you.
Does the video keep its sound?
Yes. The original sound is copied into your captioned MP4 unchanged.
Can I make a caption appear partway through?
Yes. Set a caption to show for part of the video, then choose the second it appears and the second it goes.
Can I caption just part of a long video?
Yes. The whole video is selected to begin with (up to 10 minutes); drag the ends under Clip to caption just part of it. The same editor can also crop it, change the look or save a GIF.
Is there a watermark?
A small ClipMule mark sits in the bottom-left corner by default, placed so it never covers your captions. You can switch it off under Output.
