Add captions

Caption a video

  1. Open the Caption Maker and choose a video on your device, or paste a RedGifs, xHamster, XVideos or XNXX link.
  2. Type your caption. The preview shows it on the video straight away.
  3. Choose its Position (top, middle or bottom), Size and Style.
  4. Press + Add caption for a second or third caption, for example a setup at the top and a punchline at the bottom.
  5. Press Create MP4, check the result and download it.

The four styles

  • White, outlined: bold white text with a dark outline; readable on any video.
  • Bold meme: big chunky capitals in the classic meme style.
  • Snap-style bar: white text on a see-through black bar across the video.
  • Dark on white band: dark text on a white band, like a subtitle card.

Long captions wrap onto two lines and shrink to fit. Each caption can be up to 80 characters.

Time a caption

By default a caption shows for the whole video. Set Shows to Part of it, then choose the second it appears (From) and the second it goes (To). Timed captions are how you make a reveal or a two-part joke.

Sound, length and quality

  • The original sound is copied into the MP4 unchanged.
  • The Caption Maker starts with the whole video selected, up to 10 minutes. To caption just part of it, drag the ends of the selection under Clip. The GIF Maker has the same captions.
  • Choose a larger Size for sharper text, or a smaller one for a lighter file.

Nothing is uploaded

The video is captioned on your device. Files you choose never leave it, and linked videos stream straight from the site they’re on. Captioned videos carry a small ClipMule mark in the bottom-left corner, placed so it never covers your captions; switch it off under Output if you’d rather not.
