How to make a GIF from a video
Open your video
Paste a link from RedGifs, xHamster, XVideos or XNXX, or choose a video on your device. Your own videos never leave your device.
Pick the moment
Drag the handles, type the times or use “Set start here”. Zoom in on long videos to get it exact. The preview loops exactly what you’ll get.
Make it yours
Choose GIF or MP4, crop it to vertical, square or wide, play it forwards, backwards or as a boomerang, and add captions.
Save it
Press Create, check the result and download it. No signup needed.
GIF or MP4?
- MP4 video
- Usually many times smaller than the same GIF, sharper, and can keep the sound. Plays and loops on phones, in browsers and in most apps.
- GIF
- For places that only accept GIFs. Choose a smaller size or lower smoothness to keep the file light.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No signup and no limit on how many GIFs and loops you make.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. Videos you choose from your device are never uploaded anywhere, and linked videos stream straight from the site they’re on to you.
Which links work?
Single videos from RedGifs, xHamster (including Shorts), XVideos and XNXX. Profile and playlist links don’t.
Is there a watermark?
A small ClipMule mark sits in the bottom-left corner by default, placed so it never covers your captions. You can switch it off under Output.
Can I turn a wide video into a vertical one?
Yes. Press Crop, pick 9:16 (or 4:5, 1:1, 16:9), drag the box over the part you want to keep and press Done. For the sharpest result, choose a larger size and the editor uses the best-quality version.
Can I keep the sound?
Yes, in MP4 when the video has sound and plays forwards at normal speed. GIFs never have sound.
How long can a GIF be?
An MP4 loop can be up to 10 minutes. GIFs get large quickly, so their limit depends on the size and smoothness you choose; the editor shows it as you go.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in an up-to-date browser. Some older browsers can only make GIFs; the editor tells you if MP4 isn’t available. Long, full-length videos take a while to load on a phone, so short clips work best.
